Lab Manager – Necedah, WI

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for managing the lab to ensure maximum production quantity and quality while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the Company.

Experience with analytical methods and instrumentation required, USP monograph experience desired.

Work effectively with the plant’s Distributed Control System.

Assist with hiring Lab Personnel.

Manage laboratory technicians to ensure that they are adequately trained on the most updated version of Lab policies and procedures.

Conduct employee performance reviews to determine competency and knowledge of the Lab.

Communicate with the Maintenance Department to coordinate maintenance and repairs in the laboratory.

Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.

Monitor use and inventories of laboratory chemicals and supplies. Responsible for ordering supplies when necessary.

Sample various points in the production process and conduct QA tests as required.

Maintain and update operating and training manuals for the QA laboratory. Ensure that all technicians are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures.

Prepare reports, analyze data and make recommendations for improving operations or solving problems.

Initiate projects that improve efficiency or reduce operating costs of the plant.

Send DDG samples out to various labs for results.

Represent the Lab in weekly Management Meetings.

Responsible for keeping adequate records on daily basis.

Participate in programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness.

Maintain and ensure safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelors of Science

At least 5 years of prior applicable work experience in a lab.

Working knowledge of safety and environmental standards.

Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and use of standard protocols.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to moderately loud.
